Presidents' Day Weekend in New York

A while back Mark had invited me up to his family's home for a weekend this semester, so for Presidents' Day Weekend we caught a bus after our Western Civ 2 exam and other classes for New York City, where we spent the Friday night.

The New York City night skyline

We jumped off the metro to briefly see Times Square.

The next morning we jumped onto Amtrak and headed for upstate New York. Mark hadn't told his parents that he and I was coming up for the weekend, so we were able to surprise them which they enjoyed.

We passed West Point on the way up.

The Amtrak station. Maybe this shows that I'm from the Midwest, but
it was the first time I had done Amtrak - It was pretty cool!

The Teubl Family

I was informed that I should feel very privilege because the entire Teubl family was together for the weekend. I enjoyed meeting his family; they were so much fun!

The first afternoon we went hiking and took some pictures.

On Saturday night, Mark, Andrew, David, and I played Monopoly.
We all got thoroughly beaten by Andrew.

Sunday morning I went to church with the Teubls. They meet in the first public
school of New York State.

Talking Sunday night.

We were joined for dinner by two brothers who are brother-in-laws to
one of the Roger kids from Kansas, so they knew some of my friends back
home which was fun. It is a small world!

When we headed back to campus on Monday afternoon, Mark got the times slightly wrong for our ride back to campus, so we took the opportunity to wander around the Mall for about an hour.

Thus, ended a very enjoyable weekend with Mark's family. It was a wonderful few days and nice break from school!

Hey Katherine! Yes, I had been to New York at least once before when I went to New York City and West Point.
