Mock Trial Regional

Brackets "[ ]" denote the commentary of my family that they probably didn't intend me to include - Enjoy! :)

Last weekend (2/9 - 2/12), the PHC Mock Trial C and D team (I'm on the C Team) went to our regional tournament to compete for the first round of Nationals. The A and B team had qualified the previous; we were exited that it was now our turn.

The City of Baltimore.

[We have no idea what the significance of this picture is....]

I hadn't realized Baltimore had a ship like this. It is the U.S.S. Constellation and is the last Civil War vessel still afloat.

[This looks like the USS Constitution in Boston]

While the tournament began on Saturday we arrived on Thursday afternoon and immediately did a practice round with three following the next day. A round is approximately 3 hours each, so they were exhausting days.

Attorney and witness practicing before our second round.

My amazing team! They put so much work into the competition with limited experience. Truly a stellar performance! Also, for the record the shoes on the far right are part of the cab driver's costume. I was the defendant which means I spent most of the weekend being very emotional and attempting to cry.

[Best looking guy is on the far left...what's with the tennis shoes on the right?!?]

Although we were very disappointed that we didn't qualify for Nationals, our coach was extremely pleased with what we were able to do. He was rather puzzled why the ballots fell the way they did, 3-5. With Mock Trial over for us until next year, we went back to PHC to face a bunch of hard exams. I thoroughly enjoyed competing in Baltimore!
