Hawaii Part 4

In this post I am going to show pictures of the sights of Hawaii. Hawaii is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.

Sunset Beach had spectacular waves and is where professional surfers surf.

Chinaman's Hat
When the tide is low it is possible to wade out to it.

Banyan trees are everywhere in Hawaii. We saw others that were bigger than this one.

Katherine and I both got muumuu dresses.

We ate at L&L for some ethnic food. I had a Mahi Mahi burger - translated it was a dolphin fish burger! Every fast food restaurant we went to had the favorites of the locals: macaroni salad, rice, spam, and eggs.

Twice we had shave ice at Matsumotos. In Hawaii it isn't shaved ice but always shave ice. :)

Sharks Cove
I had my doubts about wading here, but didn't have much of a choice due to the extremely sharp rocks.

Diamond Head
A dormant volcano. The two mile walk to the top of Diamond Head is not that hard toward the beginning but gets harder as you go.

Abe takes a rest on this long staircase near the top. The top is actually an old WWII lookout.

Inside the lookout we saw where some of the big guns had been mounted.

The view from the top was awesome. I could see for miles in all directions. This lighthouse is at the bottom of Diamond Head.

Katherine at the top with Honolulu behind her. Also notice the WWII lookout to the right.

We went snorkeling at this beach and saw lots of fish including parrot fish and an eel!

Blowhole is a natural phenomena where the waves create a spurt
of water to shoot out a hole in the rocks.

Along the way we also did some souvenir shopping.

Pearl Harbor

"The Pink Palace" or Trippler Army Medical Center where I was born.

The duplex my family lived in. A little run down, but still standing.

The palm tree in our old yard. Rebecca used to try and climb it.

"Aloha!"
