After decorating our Christmas tree, we always have cookies afterward. Chocolate Crinkles are one of our favorites! We have an old, wrinkled recipe torn out of a magazine from who knows how many years ago. :)
3/4 cup of butter, melted
1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup of sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 a teaspoon salt
1 6-ounce bag of semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 a cup of confectioners' sugar (for rolling the cookie balls in)
In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, cocoa powder, and sugar; beat in the eggs and vanilla extract. In a medium-size bowl, stir the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Slowly mix in the wet ingredients, then stir in the chips. Refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Form the dough into 1-inch balls and roll in the confectioners sugar. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet for 12 minutes. (We usually press them down a little.) Makes 25-35 cookies.
And serve and enjoy!!!!
