Business Trip to New York

Yesterday Dad and I (T.J.) arrived home from our 3-day business trip to New York City and West Point.

Day 1

After a meeting in Long Island, we headed over to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

The weather was beautiful - there wasn't a cloud in the sky.

As you can see, this was still a business trip! :)

Ellis Island was impressive.

This room was the waiting and processing room
that all the immigrants had to go through.

That night we picked up André and Janelle (WKC swords) at the airport around 10 or 11p.m., then we drove an hour up to West Point.

Day 2 &3

West Point

After the business meetings, we did get a chance to walk around. Dad had tons of fun, because this was the first time he had been back to the Military Academy since 1980 when he got his commission. Being back brought back lots of memories.

The Chapel

The world's largest church organ resides in the West Point Chapel.

A plaque dedicated to the memory of John Davis, the organist
and choirmaster while Dad was at West Point.

While driving around that night, we discovered Tony's Pizza. Back when Dad was a cadet Tony's was the only restaurant that cadets could access if they got hungry while they were studying.

Ever since I can remember, Dad has told stories of the huge calzones at Tony's. They haven't changed the size or recipe of the calzone since those days.

Central Area
(Tony's Pizza used to be in the basement of the building in the fore ground)

Now I've finally been to visit the United States Military Academy, and I hope I'll be able to go back sometime.
