Last night Stephanie decided it was time to clip the chicken's wings. So, she looked up online how to do it and announced that it looked really easy.
As she went out to the chicken coop with scissors in hand, she called for me to come help her! When I got out there, she held the chicken and had me do the cutting!! Yikes! I've decided I really don't like cutting chicken's feathers off.
(FYI - You clip one wing of each free-range chicken so that they are unbalanced when they try to fly. That way they can't very easily fly into a tree to roost and will go back into the coop to roost at night.)

Clipping Andrew's chicken, Jenny.

After all of them had one wing clipped (it really wasn't that hard to do), we opened the door and let them out! Stephanie and Andrew are guarding the edge of the garden. Our chickens LOVE clover and immediately ran out and started devouring all the clover in sight! :)

Sounds like a lot of fun to watch- all those chickens getting clipped. ;-)
I bet that was interesting! Is that the first time that you have let them out?
Yes, that was the very first time we let them out.
