Playing in puddles after the storm.
All summer we've watched the grass turn brown, crops shrivel up, heat-stressed branches topple to the ground, ponds entirely evaporate, and dirt turn to dust. Finally on Wednesday, we had our first good-old Great Plains thunderstorm of the summer! Although we needed over a foot of rain to escape the drought, we were glad to get an inch and a half.
