He is Risen!

To celebrate this Easter morning, I was able to join a group of six students that attended the Arlington Cemetery Sunrise Service. We left campus a little after 4:30am to arrive with plenty of time for the 6:30am service.

With the amphitheater filled to capacity, the Army Band commenced the service wonderfully. Various Army chaplains read scripture, led responsive readings, and presented short messages. BG Bailey, the Deputy Chief of Chaplains, delivered the sermon. Although the sermon was well done, I would have liked a stronger salvation message.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
(John 15:13, KJV)

Since Esther had never been to Arlington Cemetery, a few of us went by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, while we were waiting for buses. I was very glad I joined them! The Tomb of the Unknown is beautiful in the early morning!

The early morning was definitely worth it. Remembering the resurrection of my Savior surrounded by thousands who had sacrificed their lives for their friends and enemies was truly special. He is risen indeed!
