The Being An American Essay Contest

On Sunday night (March 21), the program for the Being An American Contest opened with a reception allowing the students and teachers to meet each other. So, began an amazing 3 days...

All 27 of the Regional Finalists

Monday's program included the National Archives, the American History Museum, the Supreme Court, and a night tour of the monuments.

On Tuesday the students toured the Capitol...


Then the students joined the teachers for a Congressional Luncheon. A Representative from each student's district made an effort to briefly visit with his or her student.

The Awards Dinner on Tuesday night...

At the reception preceding dinner, I spoke with General Nicholson and his wife for over 30 minutes. They both had much wisdom to share. I found out later that Mrs. Nicholson is the great-granddaughter of Chief Justice John Marshall!
