T.J.'s Trip to D.C.

Dad and I flew out bright and early on February 28th and arrived in Washington D.C. around noon. We attended a conference that night, and the next morning we drove up to Patrick Henry College.

The PHC Campus in its entirety--it is a small college :)

The building on campus that HSLDA uses.

PHC is a rather small college with a student body of only 400. All the students are friendly, and I met and briefly talked to around 10% of the students. Among those I met was Brett Harris who with his twin brother, Alex, wrote Do Hard Things and founded the Rebelution.com!

Our visit included taking a tour of the campus, attending chapel, eating lunch with three current PHC students, sitting in on two classes, U.S. History II and Philosophy, and meeting with Admissions. Dad and I are very excited about the education students receive at PHC! In fact, I don't think I have ever seen Dad so excited! Over all the visit was awesome!!!

When we finished the "official" campus visit, we went over to Dr. Farris's office--I recently finished an online Constitutional Law class with him which I really enjoyed. Dr. Farris was out of town, but we met some of the behind-the-scenes people who made the class possible.

(where ConLaw video chats took place)

The next day after some meetings we spent 3 to 4 hours at Arlington National Cemetery and then headed to the airport.

The funeral of Army General Alexander Haig was taking place while we
were at Arlington. Above is the Riderless Horse.

President Kennedy's grave site.

President Taft's grave site
Does anyone know what Taft is known for after his presidency?
Don't look it up! Take a guess. :)

General Bradley's grave

This is the view Robert E. Lee had from the front
window of his house!

I thought this was neat. The grave of Charles L'Enfant overlooks
the capital city that he planned and designed.

Anna,
That is funny that we happened to be in VA at the same time! It's to bad that both of us missed meeting Dr. Farris though:(
